ON MARCH 30TH, 2022…

We became the new owners of our forever home. A large, Cape Cod style house that is easily classified as a “fixer upper”. It’s a bit dated, and has had some work done that creates strange, inefficient spaces. Hours after we took our first tour, we had already decided that this was the “one” – and it was the first house we walked into!! In this market, that’s typically unheard of.

This house sat, waiting for the right pair of people to decide that it has the potential to be something fantastic.

It has all of the makings of a house that can do it all. 2500 square feet of possible space, a large in-ground pool that’s in surprisingly good shape. A ceiling that’s just WAITING to be demolished out into a majestic cathedral ceiling. Four, yes FOUR bathrooms that are waiting to be remodeled. A garage for all of the “projects”, a second kitchen to convert into a wet bar and flexible entertaining space. We really do have IT ALL.

This blog was created to document our process and our adventures and maybe take you along the way with us. We want to share our successes and our failures. We want to be able to show this transformation through all of its stages. Will has been doing home remodeling and building for 20 years – I trust him entirely to lead us in the right direction. I, on the other hand, and only limited in my capabilities in building. Unless it’s websites, spreadsheets, or databases. I also can make things look pretty, sometimes. Even when, they probably shouldn’t.

I’m excited to blend our two skill sets together to create this team of data and drywall

The best part of the whole thing, well – I mean that sarcastically – is that we have to live here while we do it all because we’re paying as we go and financing these projects one at a time. If you see me on the street and I’m covered in plaster dust – don’t ask any questions! and if someone could give Sherwin W. my number – we’re going to need several thousand gallons of paint by the time we’re done.
