Hall Wall – Show me your drillz

Essentially – we decided to rip down this thing… There really isn’t a lot to this. We just ripped down a wall.

So, one day we just decided we didn’t have enough on our plate that we would rip this wall down and see what would happen. Turns out it made our living room feel 100 times bigger and removed some bottle necks we felt we had. The previous owners had this built-in shelf that aged the house quite a bit. It wasn’t modern or even classic looking – instead it was painted with heavily textured sand paint which made keeping in clean virtually impossible. Down it went. What are some things we have identified as now urgent? Well… we need to put the doors on the laundry closet. We removed the original bifolds and the hall wall kept noise down. But now that we’ve exposed our laundry to our living space – they have to go up. We have solid single panel doors and matching pismo handles that we’ll put up now. We also have our bedroom door replacement we will need to get up to finish the “look” – but we’re bumping the door out to meet the laundry framing so that project will take a bit longer.

Good news? We don’t have plywood gaps in our floor because it turns out this wall wasn’t original in any way. So, we just have mismatched floor and strange plaster exposure on our ceiling. and a giant inert whole house fan we can’t wait to rip out.

Things could really be worse – some weird funny business just means things are progressing!
