The Most Perfect Little Girl’s Room

If you can recall… Rylan’s room was turned into a den when the previous homeowners snatched her closet and pulled it in for their “master suite” – unfortunately, we like the idea of clothing and toys tucked away in a closet – so when we moved in, we set out on a mission to replace it. Is it perfect? Nope. There’s still no door. But Rylan’s room came together so wonderfully. I’m excited to show this transformation.

THIS IS WHERE WE STARTED:

THIS IS WHAT WE DID:

THIS IS THE FINAL PRODUCT:

  1. We painted the ceiling with white trim paint, installed a new ceiling fan.
  2. Cut in a closet that took back some of the closet from the master bedroom.
  3. Painted the top of the wall with sherwin williams Amaryllis, and stuck peel and stick wallpaper on an accent wall. (yes, it’s upside down, don’t ask.)
  4. Painted the hall wall with chalkboard paint for the little princess to draw on.
  5. The rest of the wall was painted with white trim paint
  6. We were GOING to do fill board and batten style walls, but we elected to stick with just some cute half trimmed walls with 1X6 as the floor trim, and 1X4 as chair rail.
  7. This was also painted with white trim paint.
  8. We did decide to lay down laminate floor as the oak hardwood was too far gone in places to salvage.
  9. We replaced the hollow brown gross door with a single panel door.
  10. Replaced the door handles with kwikset Pismo privacy handle (OUR FAVORITE HANDLES!)

Someday well get a closet door on her closet, but for now – the open concept actually helps her remember she has clothes in there.

Here are some the products we used:

  1. NuWallpaper – Secret Garden
  2. Mercury Row Bonifay Geometric Area Rug
  3. Paint Color: Sherwin Williams Amaryllis
  4. DWCN Blackout Curtains in Mustard
  5. Black Metal Adjustable Curtain Rod
  6. Home Decorator’s Merwry 52″ ceiling fan & LED light
  7. Floating Book Shelves
